January 13-17, 2025, is Read Across USN Week!
Here's how it works:
All USN community members who want to participate (including students, families, and faculty/staff) will track the number of pages they read for one week (Saturday, January 11, to Friday, January 17). Students will receive paper trackers at school, and additional trackers will be available in the library. Participants can also submit page counts through this form.
All trackers are due back to the library on Tuesday, January 21. The librarians will tally up the number of pages we read as a school and will announce the final count on Friday January 24. Our school goal is 250,000 pages!
Reading is an important part of our lives and comes in all different forms, whether you’re listening to an audiobook while taking a walk, reading a picture book to a child, browsing a magazine on your iPad, rereading a beloved Calvin & Hobbes collection, or even reading sheet music. It all counts! Plus, everyone who turns in a tracking sheet gets entered into a raffle for a bookish prize.
To really get us excited about this challenge, we’re hosting a Community Night in the library on Thursday, January 16, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., featuring refreshments and fun activities like a Hassenfeld Library scavenger hunt and an opportunity to create your own custom READ posters – plus, of course, plenty of books to help keep you turning pages. We hope to see you there!
Parents: If you are interested in being a volunteer for this event, please put your name down on this USNA sign-up sheet. Thank you!
