Skip to Main ContentThe Tennessee State Library & Archives is located at 403 7th Avenue North in downtown Nashville, immediately west of the State Capitol Building. It is open Tues-Sat, 8am-4:30pm.
In addition to the physical archives, the TSLA also has several specialized digital collections, including:
The Nashville Public Library houses several collections of local historical materials at its main (downtown) branch. Some of these materials have been digitized, while many others are only available by visiting the archives in person.
The downtown library is located at 615 Church Street. Its hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm; Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 2pm-5pm.
The Nashville Room, the Civil Rights Room, the Metro Archives, and the Nashville Banner Archives are open during all of the Main library's open hours. The Special Collections Center is open Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Appointments to use Special Collections should be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 615-862-5782.

Volunteer Voices is Tennessee's statewide digitization program involving the state's archives, libraries, repositories, historic homes and museums. This is a great way to search many collections at once, including materials from the Nashville Public Library, the Tennessee State Library and Archives, and a number of Tennessee colleges and universities.
